Southern Bacon Gravy

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

Ingredients:

- 2 cups of milk

- 2 tbsp. of all purpose flour

- 1/2 tsp of black ground pepper

- 3/4 tsp of salt

- 6 pieces of bacon (you will need to use 2 tbsp. of the bacon grease)

- 1 or 2 tbsp. of butter

Directions:

1) Cook bacon until crisp. Set aside on top of a plate that has paper towels on it to absorb remaining grease. You can crumble up the bacon and put it in the gravy or you can enjoy the bacon as a side.

2) DO NOT CLEAN THE PAN. You will use the grease in the pan (about 2 tbsp.) for your gravy. In a separate bowl combine milk, flour, salt, and pepper. Stir until it is lump free. Have pan on medium heat and then add mixture and the crumbled up bacon, if desired. Stir until gravy has thickened. Some people like their gravy saltier or with a little more pepper than others so of course add more salt or pepper to taste.

3) Add butter and continue to stir until melted and completely combined with gravy. Then serve on biscuits! Enjoy!
